The organization of the bibliography is somewhat unconventional. The first section, mostly references to articles from mid-twentieth-century newspapers and periodicals, documents the rise and fall of the Lustron Corporation. This section is arranged chronologically. The remaining sections follow the bibliographic format recommended by the Chicago Manual of Style.
The bibliography has been created from a number of sources, including extensive research files of Ed Moore and Bill Kubota, producers from KDN Videoworks in Detroit, who prepared an authoritative documentary on the history of Lustrons; and Michele Boyd, who wrote a masters thesis on Lustrons as part of her course of study at Columbia University. The use of their files for this project is much appreciated.
Penny Petersen of Hess, Roise and Company undertook the monumental task of compiling this bibliography. She did not always have access to full citations, but has provided as much information as available to identify sources. To download a PDF of the entire bibliography click here.

Documented Lustrons
Some Lustrons are listed individually in the National Register of Historic Places. Others are part of a multiple property submittal, where a single document provides the context for a number of individual, noncontiguous houses or a district of adjacent houses. Lustrons can also be found in National Register districts that are significant for other reasons. Lustrons have been documented for the Historic American Buildings Survey (HABS), which is archived at the Library of Congress (http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/collections/habs_haer /).
State Historic Preservation Offices (SHPOs) and local Heritage Preservation Commissions (HPCs) conduct surveys to inventory properties, including Lustrons.
