SHPO

Each state has a SHPO or State Historic Preservation Office. The SHPO is a important part of the national historic preservation program. They carry out many of the responsibilities of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966. Helping communities survey, evaluate, and nominate significant historic buildings, sites, structures, districts and objects to the National Register is one such key activity.
